Blog Posts Rules of the Road

Introduction to Class Blog: We’ll be using this site for teacher-to-student communication as well as student-to-student communication. My goal is to do at least one blog post per week. Generally I will post on Monday and you have until Friday to complete the weekly blog by leaving a comment.

Ground Rules: Before we get started we’ll have to set some ground rules. First of all, all postings to this site must use school appropriate language. When you post, write in complete sentences. Key your first and last name at the end of your post so I know who posted it (all posts are worth points). When commenting on another student’s post, keep your comments non-personal. You can agree or disagree with a comment but refrain from sarcasm and/or put-downs. State your position on the issue at hand and why you feel that way.

Your first post assignment: In a Word document respond to the following. When you are finished, spell-check and proofread - be sure to key your first/last name at the end.
  1. Have you ever blogged before?
  2. What do you want to learn in this class?
  3. Read the following quote and write a paragraph on what this means to you and how you can put this into an action plan.
Quote:  The future depends on what we do in the present. -  Gandhi.

Now, copy and paste your response as a comment on this blog using the comment link bottom right of this post.  Ask if you don't see it.

Set-up a Yahoo Account if you don't already have one.  If you are going to use it for only school, you can set your user name as bhs followed by your student ID number.

  1. 1. No I have not blogged before.
    2. I want to learn computers better in this class.
    3. What we do now affects us in the future big time. That is because everyone looks into past records and stuff. Like if you get good grades it will be easier to get into good schools in the future. Also good grades affect your jobs in the future. The main thing is behavior now affects your future.

  2. 1. No, I have never blogged before.
    2. I want to earn good grades and learn a lot more about the internet
    3. This quote means that if you don’t learn what you need to now, then in the future, when you’re expected to do stuff, but you’re not sure of, it will really affect you. The same with your personal records; if you mess them up now it will turn up bad in the future. Always try your hardest and everything will finally pay off in the future.

    - No I have never blogged before.

    3. Read the following quote and write a paragraph on what this means to you and how you can put this into an action plan.
    - This quote means that what you do now is going to affect your future. If you make a bad or good decision now it will effect the outcome on your life. I think that I can put this into action by knowing that things may get hard along the way but you have to stick through it because the outcome can be really good!

  4. 1. I have never blogged before.
    2. In this class I want to learn how to blog and how to work with computers better.
    3. This quote by Gandhi means to me that I have to be successful in the present to be successful in the future. Also it tells me that what I do affects my future. I can do whatever I want but that will carry over to my future, and it probably will not be a good future. I can put this into an action plan by doing well in school and in sports. I like this quote and it will help other people in life.

  5. 1. I do not think that I have blogged before
    2. I want to learn how to delicious and how to bookmark things that I would need.
    3. This quote means a lot to me. It means that we should always do the right thing and make sure we do things right so that we don’t have to have it affect our future. If we do bad things in the past then are future probably won’t be good. So you have to do good things so that your future is brighter.

  6. 1. I believe that I have blogged before but only one other time.
    2. In this class I want to learn how to get better with computers, like learning some of the functions on excel.
    3. The quote from Gandhi tells me to do as best as I can now because what I do now has a big affect on my future. Also it kind of tells me that being mean to people can have a big effect on their life. I believe this because if you are mean to someone now you could need them in the future and if you are mean to them now they may not be there for you. This quote is a great one because it affects everyone.

  7. 1.Have you ever blogged before? Yes, over the summer for Honors English blogs.

2.What do you want to learn in this class? How to use different websites on the Internet!

3.Read the following quote and write a paragraph on what this means to you and how you can put this into an action plan. Quote: The future depends on what we do in the present. - Gandhi. This quote means that what we do now will affect our future therefore we need to try our best and succeed at everything we do from here on out! This also means that we need to take what we do in life seriously and cautiously that way we make good decisions and are aware of what’s going on in the world. If you pay attention and are aware of what is going on in the “real” world most likely your future will be bright.

  8. Blog Post Assignment
    1. Yes, I have blogged before.
    2. I want to learn how to use the cloud network for Microsoft Office.
    3. “The future depends on what we do in the present.” –Ghandi. This quote means that if you want to get anywhere in the future, you have to work for it in the present. You can work for your goals by doing well in school. Not just in elementary school and junior high, but in high school as well. Your grades in high school matter the most. Also things that you have to work hard at are major tests in high school like the SAT and ACT. I can put this into action by studying and working hard in academics and just overall school. In conclusion, if you want to have a bright and successful future, you need to work hard in the present.

    2. In this class I want to learn how to make a website.
    3. The quote from Ghandi is inspirational because what I do now affects me later on. It makes me work harder so I can get a better job. In school I will try my best and do as good as I can. If I try people will like me and my life will be better.

  10. 1. Have you ever blogged before?
    a. No, I have never blogged before.
    2. What do you want to learn in this class?
    a. I want to learn how to edit photos and videos.
    3. Read the following quote and write a paragraph on what this means to you and how you can put this into an action plan. “The future depends on what we do in the present.” - Gandhi
    a. What Gandhi is trying to say is that the future is not set in stone, that the future is like wet clay and still able to be molded by our actions. If people realize this, they can make better decisions about their lives and hopefully live better lives. What this means to me is that there is no all powerful force controlling us and we can make our own decisions (I apologize if this offends religious people).

    1. No I have never blogged before
    2. In this class I want to learn how to store the information I have writing in a hard drive
    3. “The future depends on what we do in the present” means that in order to be successful you cannot be lazy in the present because it will only hurt you in the future. I can put this into an action plan by not being a procrastinator on homework, school projects or everyday work.

  12. 1. No, I haven’t blogged before.
    2. I want to learn in this class how to blog and send emails to people.
    3. The future depends on what we do in the present. It could be a good thing if you do anything wrong. What we learn will help us in the future that we really need when we grow up. Everything you do will affect your future. Like, if it’s right or wrong things you choose to do it will be notice and in your past that you cannot change.

    2. What do you want to learn in this class?
I would like to learn how to use the internet, and microsoft better.
    3. The quote “The future depends on what we do in the present” by Gandhi, is very true. It means that what you do now, will result in what happens and what you choose to do in the future. Always think about your actions before you make them, so you don’t make a mistake leading to poor choices later in life. This quote means a lot, and it is great advice.

I have never blogged before but I have read some but to me I don’t really like to blog. I really know everything I need to know about computers right now no advances have been made from last year when everyone in the school took a computer class so far I don’t want to learn anything. The quote ‘’the future depends on what we do in the present’’. - Gandhi means anything that we do now will have an effect on what future we have if we don’t recycle we could die out or just have a very dirty world or if we pollute we possibly will die out from lack of oxygen. So to me that is what the quote means

  16. 1: already watched it.
2: I have not given much thought about the tracks I leave. I have no idea what the tracks will do to my life. I fell that businesses should check online sites, other people don’t know what their getting into. There are a lot of ways to prevent yourself from becoming a hermit.
3: I looked up my dad and the information was accurate because I found his job and it is where he works. Nothing surprised me at all. The advantages are that they are pretty much reliable. The disadvantages are that sometimes you can’t find the information.

  17. 1.I haven’t really given this question much thought because it just doesn’t cross my mind that often. I feel that employers should check Facebook before hiring because some things that aren’t said in person may be kept a “secret” online until your employer finds out who you really are. Yes there are ways to be protect yourself without being a hermit by just monitoring your behavior online and not getting involved in bad situations.

2.Most of the information I found about my Mom on the Internet was fairly accurate. Nothing really surprised me about this except that they keep a “record” about you throughout your entire life which is pretty neat. An advantage of this would be that you can access your information on the Internet wherever you are and whenever you want but a disadvantage of this is that anyone can access that information about you which is kind of scary if you really think about it.

    2. I have thought about the tracks I am leaving behind but I’m not worried about it and yes there are ways of protecting myself without becoming a hermit (I could not go on facebook that much)
    3. I searched my dad and I found his job website, the blade when my sister was born on September 12th 2001 and his wiki tree. No nothing surprised me. There are a lot of advantages but also disadvantages like other people can see the stuff I see too.

  21. 2) Answer the following: Have you given much thought about the tracks you are leaving and what impact those tracks may have on your life? i do think about it and i try to avoid leaving tracks.
How do you feel about 40 % of employers checking social site such as Facebook before hiring? i think its fine because then you could find out more about the person
Are there ways you can limit or protect yourself without becoming a hermit? yes there are ways you can limit yourself.

    3) when i googled my mom it told me her facebook account. when i googled my dad it told me he lived in ohio.

    3. That quote to me is a pretty good quote, it means what you do now (as a young adult) will affect your future and where you go in life. The choices I make now at the age I am at will make me who I am tomorrow and as an adult. Like, my effort in school now will make a difference in how I continue through school, collage, and life. Whatever I do now, my future depends on it, if I make smart decisions now, then my future will be better than it would be if I make bad choices now. Then my future would be bad.

  26. Often times students think the things they do today don't effect the future. They are wrong! Your actions have a direct impact on your future. Think about where you want to be five years from now. Then make a plan. What are you going to do to make it happen?

Posts after this will not be accepted.
